YOUNG CHILDREN’S PROBABILISTIC AND STATISTICAL REASONING IN THE CONTEXT OF INFORMAL STATISTICAL INFERENCE

This paper reports the statistical and probabilistic reasoning of young children in terms randomness, variability, data representations context informal inferential (IIR). Using IIR approach, a task was designed conducted one-on-one with 28 aged 5 to 6 years old, case study setting. The researcher used voice recorder during interviews, took photos, recorded field notes. were analyzed according principles reasoning, which are generalizing beyond data, using as evidence for generalizing, language whilst being aware uncertainty. findings indicate that capable making inferences from sample space, describing event probability, constructing bar graph pie chart representations.
